The story behind the West African Union University (WAUU) in Cotonou, Benin Republic, was more impressive, beginning with a humble beginning as Prestige Tutorial Center, a small organization that took on the responsibility of providing well-cut-out tutorial services to young people taking national examinations such as WAEC-SSCE and JAMB in Lagos and Owo, Ondo State.

The organization was compelled to seek affiliation with the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Otto-Ijanikin, Lagos in 2005 as an administrator in charge of the college's Dopemu-Agege Satellite Center, which had over 100 students, after achieving excellent results in a span of two to three years of well-nourished tutorial services.

The center's outstanding performance in its first year of existence earned it the title of the best coordinating center for 2006. The organization's operations advanced in 2007 with the registration of PECOX Global Inv. Ltd, and in 2009, Prestige Educational Consultancy Ltd was incorporated as a limited liability company, as opposed to its previous business name status.

PECOX GIL and Prestige Educonsult Ltd are major players in the Nigerian educational consultancy industry, with affiliations with prestigious schools such as Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Olabisi Onabanjo University Consult, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Yewa Central College of Education, and Pinnacle African University, Porto Novo.
